The Pantry – Simple, modern restaurant open all day for breakfast, snacks and full meals made with local produce.

Duck & Waffle – Celebrates the joy of delicious food and drink in a warm and buzzy atmosphere.

Taste of Italy – Italian café with dark wood interiors and framed black and white photography. Serves breakfast, and has kids menu. Opens at 8am. 5 mins walk.

cafecalton.com – Worth the 15min walk! Take in panoramic views over the city’s skyline while enjoying breakfast, lunch, dinner or cocktails.

Pickles – Relaxed spot pairing a wine bar with cider, cheese, charcuterie and pickles.

The Broughton Bar – Warm, cosy and welcoming. Delivers the finest food and drink in Edinburgh’s gastropub scene.

Simply Greek – Compact, casual diner serving traditional Greek skewers, wraps and desserts, with vegetarian options.

The Barony Bar – A must-see restoration of an Edinburgh institution. Well-loved gastropub.

White Horse Oyster & Seafood Bar – Chic eatery offering British seafood & shellfish alongside small plates, wine & cocktails.

The Ship on The Shore – Shellfish and champagne spot by the waterfront, with elegant, romantic decor and some outside tables. Nice to get out of city centre and sample Leith.

David Bann – Creative, eclectic vegetarian cuisine served in warm, maroon decor with group menu and vegan dishes.

Soul Vegan – A perfect place for vegan souls in the heart of Edinburgh.

Civerinos – Relaxed vibe in all of their restaurants, and a great reputation for delicious pizzas.

Sotto Trattoria – A new find in Stockbridge. Recently opened and already very popular with locals. We rate it.

Tattu – Traditional and modern Chinese cuisine served in an opulent restaurant festooned with cherry blossoms.

Kweilin – Traditional dining room serving classic Cantonese dishes, set-price banquets and seafood specials.

Bonnie & Wilde – Upmarket food hall with a variety of kitchens & cuisines.

Edinburgh St Food – A bold and eclectic foodies paradise.

Bars…

The Dome – One of Edinburgh’s most famous landmarks. Beautiful interiors and renowned for its Xmas lighting.

Tigerlily – Boutique hotel with a buzzing bar and restaurant. Open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks.

Brewhemia – Huge beer keller near Waverley station. Great atmosphere Fri/Sat. Open 10am til late.

Traditional Pubs…

Kay’s Bar – Tiny Victorian pub with wooden barrel decor and a library for guest draught beers and plain lunches. Charming.

The Bailie – Atmospheric basement pub with traditional decor, real ale, classic pub menu and live folk sessions. Has outdoor seating. An Edinburgh institution.

The Magnum – Intimate and atmospheric upscale bar-restaurant serving local Scottish produce, game and seafood. 7 min walk.

Barony Bar – Ian Rankin’s books immortalised a basic pub where tourists join locals for real ale and bar lunches. He can be occasionally spotted propping up the bar!!
